Sprinkle by nails inc. London

I was really super excited to try this new special effect by nails inc. I was quite skeptical at first after seeing the display photos but this is probably the easiest, quickest, awesomest (yes that's a word in my vocabulary :) ) manicure ever!!! The pictures shown below are Topping Lane and I used 2 coats. You can buy it at Sephora.com or at your local Sephora store. There are 4 colors and at my store they were up by the registers. :) On a side note this was after 2 days of wear with no top coat.

Taped Nails

I decided to try this tape effect on my nails this evening since I had a lot of time. I didn't have any painter's tape so I decided to try it with scotch tape. It took awhile it get it cut into small strips and I had to be very gentle when I took them off after applying the black on top. If you try/tried this I would like to see how yours came out!!!

Magnetic Nails

Another trip to Sally resulted in Finger Paints Cop An Attitude magnetic nail polish and China Glaze Magnetix 3 design tool. I really like the color it's a nice copper color and I didn't have hardly any problem using the tool. I would highly recommend this for anyone who wants a quick, easy design on their nails.

Red, White and Glitter!!!!!

I came home from a wonderful girl's day to find I received my Julep Box today!!! I had to immediately try this especially since it's 4th of July!!! Shown here is the It Girl box which contains Mila: multi glitter; Kate: white color; Daphne: turquoise and of course America the Beautiful: red, blue and silver micro glitter with silver stars!!! It's a little hard to get the stars out but with a little time and you can get a lot out. I also used some clear nail polish to pull the micro glitter off the stars.

All that glitters...

What can I say I'm a girl and I love glitter!!! So I thought I would take some time and post some of the new glitter polishes I got while I was on vacation.

OPI Rainbow Connection Muppet Series
I absolutely adore this party polish. It was very easy to apply and this is only one coat on my nails. The formula was the right consistency so the glitter didn't go all over my nails. Sephora by OPI has a very similar polish out now called Spark-tacular! which is basically the same only it has micro-glitter added to it. If you can find it I would get Rainbow Connection over Spark-tacular! anyway.

With all the holographic colors around I was surprised to find this at one of my fav stores called Glitter. This polish is by Magicolor Cosmetics and number 41 is the color. The best part about this is it was only $1!!!! I only did one coat of this polish also. TIP: For shaped glitter I find it easier to shake the bottle upside down and this remove brush with the bottle on its side. This way there's sure to be some shaped glitter on the brush.

The next 3 nails are all by Orly Flash Glam collection which can be found at Sally Beauty Supply. The above photo is Can't Be Tamed. I found all 3 of the formulas to be very runny, it kept running to the side of my nail. All in all these are very pretty but I wouldn't wear it alone

Nail Polish Creation

So tonight I decided to try my hand at making my own nail polish and this is what I got. It is black with orange glitter not a top coat over black. I think it still needs some work but it looks better than what I thought it would.

Sephora Glitter

Sephora has a new ad campaign this summer entitled 1000 ways to get polished. The glitter section really intrigued me so I decided to try what was shown. The only difference was I thought that their base coat was a little light so I used Sinful Colors Love Nails instead. I did use Sephora by OPI Indi-Go With the Flow and G-listen To Your Heart.

I have to say this is a little hard to do with the glitter line. The formula seems to be really runny especially G-listen to your Heart (the pink). I especially had a hard time with it running to the side of my nail, but all in all I think it came out ok. Oh and in the above picture I haven't cleaned up the excess yet, I was afraid I would smear it if I did.

Sephora OPI It's Real 18K Gold Top Coat

I was very disappointed for such an expensive polish. This runs $30 and it is more of a matte than something that would catch someone's eye. The flecks also seemed to bunch together instead of go on smooth, I had to place some of them with the brush.

Ciaté Caviar Manicure

My sister bought me this awesome combo from Sephora. The box came with the Rainbow beads and the nail polish in Strawberry Milkshake. We decided to use a bright blue for a base coat instead of the light pink that came with it to show off the beads. Unless you are going to wear this for a special event do not spend the $25 because the "caviar"colors wear off in about 24 hours even with a top coat. It is very pretty though and easy to apply but you do have to do each nail individually.

Gradient Nails

I love the way these look. I think gradient nails always look awesome. It does take awhile though since I did each color by themselves instead of like a stamp as in my Rainbow Nails. I ended up using 5 different colors.

Nail Polish used:
Base Coat: Sweet Dreams-Sinful Colors
Sponged: Renee-Julep (lavender); I Don't Bite-Sephora by OPI (Purple); Into the Night-OPI (Navy) and Starry Silver-NYC (Glitter on Tips)

More Marble Nails

I had a little trouble with my marbling this week. For some reason my polish didn't want to disperse. Anywho here's what I came up with this week. I used My Boyfriend Scales Walls (OPI) and Call Me Gwen Ever (OPI) and Blue By! from the Sally Henson Instant Dry collection

No mess diy nails

I decided this week that I was going to try and free hand my artwork. Basically all I did was take 2 colors paint half the nail diagonally with one color and then fill in the blank with the rest. Then I took my black nail polish and created abstract lines and c's; make sure you let each coat dry in between. I then took the contrasting color and dotted in between some of the black art and finished with painting a strip of glitter down the middle. If anyone tries this or any of the other art I would love to see some photos!!!

Splatter Nails

Since it's Saturday I decided to try the splatter technique on my nails. This technique is a little harder than most and takes a lot of time, especially to clean up.  My husband picked out the colors. :)

How I did this: First add your base color my husband chose the colors and black seemed the best for the neon to show up. I then began taping up my nails which I highly recommend cause the nail polish gets everywhere! I also did mine outside in the grass so I didn't have to worry about cleaning up a counter/table. Make sure your base coat is dry before you begin the splatter. Basically to get splatter all you do is dip a straw into your nail polish and then blow really hard into the straw. I cut my straw into fourths cause I used 4 polishes. Happy Splattering!!!

Colors Used:
Black Base Coat
Splatter Colors:
OPI Into the Night (Blue)
OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls (White)
Sinful Colors Neon Melon (Yellow)
Sinful Colors Irish Green (Green)

OMG What can I say I absolutely love this collection!!! From metallic Just Spotted the Lizard and Into the Night to the glittery Number One Nemesis to the gel consistency of Call Me Gwen-Ever to the classic color Your Web Or Mine and My Boyfriend Scales Walls this collection has something for everyone! Even an awesome shatter (I had to get it seperate from the set) Shatter the Scales. I absolutely loved it!

This is the set it varies from the color shown in the bottle slightly. From thumb to pinkie finger: Just Spotted the Lizard; Number One Nemesis; Into the Night; Call Me Gwen-Ever; Your Web or Mine

The Shatter for the collection: Shatter the Scales over top Just Spotted the Lizard. I absolutely love this combination, it's surprisingly very smooth.

My Boyfriend Scales Walls nail art.  I'm not used to doing the nail art quite yet and I didn't clean up I was just excited that it worked!

Rainbow Nails!!!

This is a very simple procedure to do on your own. I started with my base coat, then used white nail polish for the base color. Choose 3 colors and paint the broad end of a make-up triangle make sure you coat it really good cause the sponge soaks it up. Then just quickly stamp your nails. I used the same sponge,  just kept repainting my sponge. I then used a thin glitter to sparkle it up. It only took me about an hour to do both hands and I taped up my nails for a quicker clean up.

What I Used:
OPI Nail Strengthener-Base Coat
OPI My Boyfriend Scales Walls-White Base Color

Finger Paint Art You Kidding Me?-Pink
Sinful Colors Neon Melon-Yellow
Sinful Colors Irish Green-Green/minty color

Sally Henson Diamond Strength Glass Slipper-Sparkle
Finger Paint top coat

OPI colors available at most salons (Walmart, JC Penney's, etc)
Finger Paint available at Sally's Beauty Supply
Sinful Colors available at Walgreens

China Glaze Prismatic Chroma Glitters

The first 2 colors from the collection I used is Full Spectrum which has a light pink base and Prism which is a purple base, although it is a little hard discerning the different colors. I do not recommend using this collection to add sparkle to a design, it's a very thick formula and in the following pictures I only used one coat.

On the Index and ring finger it's Prism and the thumb, middle and pink its Full Spectrum.

First attempt at flame nails

This is my first attempt at doing "flame" nails. The last nail I did actually came out the best.
I used Finger Paints new Neons Beach Bound and Art you kidding me.  The sparkle on my index and middle finger is NYC Starry Silver Glitter and the glitter that is on my ring finger is China Glaze Full Spectrum. (I was only using one thin coat but Full Spectrum goes on really thick.

I only used this picture because on my thumb I did use the Finger Paint To-Teally Hot just to add more color.

Color Club Revvvolution Holographic Nails

Last week I discovered holographic 3D nail polish. I was very excited in trying Color Club's Revvvolution since it was an almost black base with the holographic. Unfortunately unless you are outside in bright sun or under very bright lights like stage lighting it just looks like black sparkle nail polish. It is very pretty in the sun though. I only used 2 coats in the following pictures.

Above picture inside the house before touchups. I was so excited to try it out.

Above picture taken outside in bright sunlight.
The thumb nail has a top coat on it and made it too shiny you couldn't see the effect.

Fleck Nail Polish

What can I say I love the 3D/Holographic nail polish. In all 3 photos I used Finger Paints Black Expressionism as the base color. In the above photo is the new China Glaze Hunger Games Luxe and Lush.
This is Motley by Finger Paints

This is a combination of the both.
Sephora by OPI how I love thee. This is Looks Like Rain, Dear (the gold) with Flurry Up. (Silver hexagon flecks with silver sparkles) I wore this for my husband's company's Christmas Party and the way the lights hit the hexagon flecks was just amazing. I normally wear this combination when I have to dress up.

Claire's Magnetic Nail Polish

This is the blue color from the Claire's line of Magnetic nail polish. This formula is easily applied and the magnet even has the grooves to center your nail. I have gotten so many compliments when I wear this and  it doesn't chip very easily. I also have to say that if you do try this out that you need to hold the magnet over the nail polish for at least 20 sec+ to get a decent design. I will try to get pictures of the other colors and I will do a comparison with the China Glaze line also.
